Getting around Madrid

Madrid has one of the most comprehensive public transport systems in Europe. With the metro and Cercanías you can reach almost any part of the city in under 30 minutes.

Official map: Metro de Madrid maps (schematic, tourist and street-based versions, as PDF).

Metro

  • 13 lines plus the Ópera–Príncipe Pío branch. Runs roughly from 6:00 to 1:30.
  • Stations closest to the venue: Méndez Álvaro (L6), Delicias (L3), Palos de la Frontera (L3) and Arganzuela-Planetario (L6).
  • Single ticket: €1.50–2 depending on the number of stations. 10-trip ticket (Metrobús, valid on metro and EMT buses): €7.30. Supplement to enter or exit at the airport: €3.

Transport card

Tickets are loaded onto the Public Transport Card (Tarjeta Transporte Público), which you can buy from the machines at any metro station. Each card can only be used by one person per trip. Since June 2026 you can also pay for a single metro ticket by tapping your bank card or phone at the turnstiles, without buying a ticket. You can pay this way on Cercanías too.

Tourist Travel Pass (Abono Turístico)

Unlimited travel on the metro, EMT buses and Cercanías for several days. For the Camp days, the 3-day pass usually pays off if you're going to move around a lot.

Days 1 2 3 4 5 7

Bus (EMT)

More than 200 lines plus night buses (búhos). Single ticket: €1.50. Lines 8, 102 and 152 stop 2–4 minutes from the venue, on Calle Méndez Álvaro; the 102 goes straight to Atocha. At night, the N11 and N13 búhos.

Cercanías Renfe

Commuter rail connecting Atocha, Chamartín, Sol, Nuevos Ministerios, Méndez Álvaro, Delicias and the airport (T4). Very handy for getting to and from the high-speed rail stations. The closest stations to the venue are Méndez Álvaro (C-5 and C-10) and Delicias (C-10).

Bikes, scooters and taxis

  • BiciMAD: public electric bikes with stations all over the city. Madrid Río, about a 20-minute walk from the venue, has a bike lane.
  • Taxi: white with a red stripe. €33 flat fare between the airport and anywhere inside the M-30.
  • Ride-hailing (VTC): Uber, Cabify, Bolt and FreeNow operate in Madrid.
