Guide for companions

Coming to the Camp with your partner, family or friends? While you're in the talks, Madrid has plenty to keep them busy. And in the evenings and on Sunday, you can all enjoy it together.

Daytime plans (Thursday to Saturday)

  • Museums: the Prado, the Reina Sofía and the Thyssen are a 20 to 35-minute walk from the venue. Make the most of the free entry hours (see "Things to do in Madrid").
  • Royal Palace and Habsburg Madrid: the Palace, Almudena Cathedral, Plaza Mayor, Sol.
  • Retiro Park: a stroll, rowing boats on the lake and the Crystal Palace.
  • Shopping: Gran Vía, Calle Preciados, the Salamanca district and markets.
  • Madrid Río and Matadero: about a 20–25 minute walk from the venue, perfect for meeting up at lunchtime.

With kids

  • Madrid Planetarium: about a 15-minute walk from the venue, in Tierno Galván Park.
  • National Museum of Natural Sciences: dinosaurs and wildlife, just north of the center.
  • Zoo Aquarium and Parque de Atracciones (amusement park) in Casa de Campo. The Zoo is open every day (from 11:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and until 18:00 on weekends); in November, the Parque de Atracciones only opens on weekends (Saturday 21, from 12:00 to 20:00).
  • Madrid Río playgrounds: slides and play areas along the river.
  • Under-18s always get free entry to the Prado and the Reina Sofía.

Day trips

Toledo (about 35 minutes by AVE from Atocha), Segovia (about 30 minutes by AVE from Chamartín), El Escorial, Alcalá de Henares or Aranjuez.
